It's got a great opening with the rich harmonies in "Forever Days" that combine The Hollies and the California sound to something unique and wonderful. He tops that with the pristine "Tell Me I'm Wrong" with lush production and a hook that won't leave your head...an excellent release that shouldnn't be missed.

Nelson Bragg has made a fine cd full of beautiful 70's California pop, West Coast rock and powerpop. On "Day and Night" you hear influences of sixties and seventies bands like Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Byrds, The Beatles, The Beach Boys etc...   Excellent production, good harmony vocals, nice voice and fine guitar-playing.  You definitly can hear that he's been on tour with the great Brian Wilson.

... amply demonstrates his fine songwriting skills, sensitive vocals, and impressive arranging abilities... Nelson's interpretation of Dark Sweet Lady is spot-on... There's not a weak song on this album, and most are quite stunning. It's no wonder that in places where this album has received airplay, it has received such a positive response.

It is a rare treat to hear a debut album as assured and complete as these 12 tracks sound... Bragg has made a work of great integrity and warmth that would stand up well in any decade.

... it has a laid back, summery, California feel offered up with 'Forever Days.' ... the second half begins with the infectious “Death of Caroline” and “Lived This Life Too Long,” which is delectable sweet pop. Think of XTC-meets-Brian Wilson and you get the gist of this record.

One of the nice perks of writing here is that people send terrific albums I otherwise probably wouldn't have heard. This is one of them.

... there's so much here to admire... [like] the utterly gorgeous Wilsonian vocal arrangements on "Tell Someone"... the overall level of melodic invention here is impressively high... the production [is] world class... this is one of the most thoroughly beguiling records I've heard this year.

Nelson's got a beautiful voice, the songs come from the heart, with great chord changes, and the sound, arrangements and production are lush and gorgeous.

A Stunning Debut CD... DAY INTO NIGHT... has something for everyone and anyone who still wants to hear “pop” tunes with an edge. Bragg has proven he’s glowing with talent, and the future looks brighter should he continue in the direction he’s started on this release. I recommend this CD to anyone who wants to hear great songs, crafted to appear simple on the surface, but full of twists and turns, revealed more and more with each listening. This should be all over the radio. Get out and get it.

He clearly has a gift for making this kind of music and not make it seem quaint... that this kind of music has a place today too.

...gorgeous, understated songs and... yearning, expressive vocals.   A winning cover of the George Harrison obscuro “Dark Sweet Lady” slots in nicely alongside Bragg-written stunners such as the heart-wrenching “A Father’s Foolish Will,” the Beach Boys-influenced “Death of Caroline” and the straightforward, catchy “Forever Days.”

    ANDY HOSTETTER: IUSB Preface

Most pop records tend to wear their influences on their sleeve," said Bragg. What makes Bragg's album so great is it doesn't try to hide from its influences. "When you do hear a direct influence, it was me saying, "here we go, I don't care what people think.

This album is a harmony-lover's delight. The overall feel is that of a folk-rock-pop combination... The melodies are beautiful and soulful, and evolve from a light perspective into a much deeper mood later in the album... The lyrics speak of life's lessons and fall 'close to home' for many of us.

Highlights include ‘Death of Caroline’, ‘Forever Days’, ‘I Dare You (Show Me Love)’ and a fantastic cover of George Harrison's ‘Dark Sweet Lady’. Nelson's soft voice will hypnotize the listener while the music carries you away in aural bliss. I strongly recommend this long-waited album.

Every song can stand up on its own but together they create a really interesting arc. The harmonies are beautiful. You can hear the musical influences being honored but not taking over. The vocals are so rich; he's got a great range. Some catchy riffs throughout too, along with interesting instrumentation. The strings add an unexpected and deep element.

Nelson Bragg's CD is WONDERFUL! I've been in love with "Death of Caroline" for quite a while now, having heard it on his MySpace page, but now there's a whole bunch more to enjoy.
